The UKCTRF aims to gain physical insight into turbulent reacting flow using advanced numerical simulations with the help of HPC support and translate that fundamental understanding into the development of high-fidelity models for engineering simulations through collaborative and complementary research in the UK.<\/p>\n

In particular over the next five years, the consortium\u2019s goals are to:<\/p>\n

i. Exploit national (and international) HPC resources to perform leading-edge reacting flow simulations involving Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS), Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS);<\/p>\n

ii. Obtain fundamental physical information and develop high-fidelity modelling methodologies for analysing turbulent reacting flows with relevance to energy, gas turbine, automotive and fire safety engineering;<\/p>\n

iii. Develop a forward-looking software development strategy to efficiently exploit today\u2019s national facility and future HPC hardware.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
